Now modernised as a comfortable small hotel, it is managed by the owners in traditional style.

Close by the mouth of the river Deveron, Carmelite House takes its name from the former monastery which once stood nearby. Built in 1753 for Admiral William Gordon, the
house is a fine example of its period.

There is also a fine sandy beach with coastal walks, whisky and castle trails nearby, and the town centre is only minutes away.

There are many other things to and places to see in the Banff and Buchan area. Details are available in reception. The Marine Aquarium in Macduff is always popular with visitors.
If you want to explore further afield, why not take a tour up the coast to Elgin to see the magnificent remains of the Cathedral. Along the way you can visit some of the small picturesque fishing villages built right on the coast, or visit the 17th century harbour at Portsoy.
